Advanced Soft-Tissue Techniques

Functional Range Release technique, or FR® Release is an advanced, and comprehensive system of soft tissue assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation used by some of the most highly regarded manual therapists around the world. One of the most important factors separating FR® certifications from other manual seminars is its focus on communicating the scientific basis behind the techniques. A large component of the certification seminars is dedicated to teaching/introducing the participant to the supporting literature so that they can make sound clinical decisions and provide the best manual treatments available.

Rehabilitation & Exercise Specialization

DNS is not a technique; it is not a protocol. It is a lens through which we can judge the quality of postural stabilization and a reliable marker as to the efficacy of our interventions that aim to influence it. DNS provides a system of assessing the quality of postural stabilization and provides a strategic, comprehensive approach to restoring and training it. "The nervous system establishes programs that control human posture, movement, and gait. This ‘motor control’ is largely established during the first critical years of life. Therefore, the “Prague School” emphasizes neurodevelopmental aspects of motor control in order to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes." DNS Rehab

If you haven't attended a DNS course you may have some misconceptions about what it entails. DNS uses the blueprint of infant development to inform optimal postural stabilization, movement, and gait. This blueprint is what we call a neurodevelopmental approach to assessing, rehabilitating, restoring, and optimizing human movement. We reference and use developmental positions to improve, optimize and train human movement, but DNS is not about rolling around like a baby.

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a form of manual therapy focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions.

Chiropractic care is a patient-centered, non-invasive, hands-on, regulated health care profession focused on your spine, muscles, joints and nervous system.

Chiropractors use the best available evidence and clinical expertise to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement. They treat them without medication or surgery and prevent them from returning. Chiropractic care can also promote health and improve your quality of life, as well as alleviate pain.

Doctors of chiropractic, called ‘chiropractors’ are spine, muscle, joint and nervous system experts. Every chiropractor receives at least seven to eight years of post-secondary academic and clinical education. They are trained in how to evaluate, diagnose, recommend and deliver a treatment plan that manages issues within these systems, according to your preferences.

A chiropractor’s education also includes courses in radiology, pain management, prescribed exercise and rehabilitation, among others. Some chiropractors also pursue additional academic and practical education to specialize in other areas, including: clinical sciences and diagnostic imaging, pediatric, rehabilitation, spinal stenosis, sports sciences and animal chiropractic care. Each chiropractor is uniquely qualified to evaluate your condition and identify what’s causing your pain.

Based on the best available evidence, combined with their clinical expertise, your chiropractor will then work with you to determine the best treatment to relieve your pain. They will also help prevent it from returning and restore your mobility.

The most common conditions a chiropractor will see are:

Back pain
Neck pain
Headaches
Sciatica
Plantar fasciitis
Hip pain
Knee pain
Shoulder pain
Whiplash
Strains and sprains
Repetitive strain injuries
Work and sport injuries
Arthritis

Chiropractic care has also been proven beneficial for:

Rehabilitation and pre-habilitation prior and post surgery
Reducing back pain and core stability during pregnancy
Increasing joint mobility
Restoring mobility and muscle strength to arthritic joint
Diagnosing and treating a variety of headaches
Concussion management and prevention
Screening assessments in sport
Chiropractic care utilizes a variety of treatment approaches to best serve the patient.

These treatment techniques include:

Joint manipulation and mobilization
Manual therapy
Myofascial and muscle release therapy
Instrument assisted soft tissue therapy
Exercise and rehabilitation
Kinesiology taping
